This is the day that hit me. I'd woken up to realise that this would be my last day in York. I had met so many amazing people in the whole week, a mix of personalities, cultures and attitudes. I realised that today, we would take our seperate roots back home in the Stanmore and Birmingham coaches, and I would most likely never see them again. I decided to make the most out of my day, so I planned to get ready fast and rush down to breakfast. However as I had turned off my alarm the previous night, I woke up at 7.50am. I packed my final items and dragged my suitcase and other bags out into the park ready for later and managed to get to breakfast just before 8.30am and enjoyed the wide variety of foods available to eat. I spent some time taking photos of my closest friends as memories of our week together.
We then headed off to our lessons, trying to get as much out of them as we could. They were only 30 minutes each today, and each subject had their own ''twist'' on the subject. We played Pictionary in Biological and Chemical terms, as well as ''sticking post-it notes on people's heads and having them ask questions about what it is" in Maths. After lessons there was a presentation in which students made a few presentations. Mohammed-Abbass Karim recited a beautiful manqabat as well as gave a speech along with Mohammed Khaku who thanked the teachers. We then went for Salaat and then went down to have our last ever Lunch together. We were, again, presented with a beautiful selection of foods. At 3:00 pm we were told to gather our stuff and proceed to the meeting point in front of the main building. They then took us to the big greenland area, and conducted an experiment with Mentos and Pepsi (we all know what happens). The mentors got soaked ! (aww poor them.. ) We then said our final salaam to all the people we had met in York, as now we would be split up into 2 groups, the Stanmore and Birmingham coaches. We departed at around 3.30pm hoping that we would see each other in the near future. The whole trip was perfect from start to end. I can't wait till next year !
