Report Saturday the 30th of August was a day, which reaped many benefits for me. The graduate's fair organised by CoEJ was something that was quite important to me as it will help me in applying for my job.
The day started by each of us giving our presentations in front of the other participants and then being given feedback on them, on how we can improve them. This was a very useful exercise as it gave us a chance to be able to know about how to make effectual presentations. The next item on the agenda was talk given by Maria Pattinson who gave us an insight on how to make effectual presentations. We were actually surprised to find out that for an effectual presentation only 7% was contributed by the content, whereas 55% was by body language and 38% by tone. Then there was a break for salaah and lunch after which we resumed for the part we were all looking forward to- the mock interviews. This wasindeed very challenging, as we had to answer questions we had never thought about before. The interviews I think were one of the best parts giving us insight on how to tackle them when the real one comes. We then progressed by having a talk by Shan Abbas Hassam, who gave us a talk on how to write effective CV's. The day then ended by a careers fair where we had the chance to talk to people from different fields ranging from accountants to dentists to pilots. The day truly was a very successful day and I know I gained a lot from it. |
