The Education Committee of the Council of European has organised the 8th Summer Residential Boys Summer Camp in Sweden. At a nominal cost of £289 (subsidised from £580) the Camp will offer a wide range of targeted activities, classes and exercises in an Islamic setting. With the motto ‘towards excellence’ the objective of CoEJ Sweden Summer Camps is clear; to train and develop campers in the academic, physical, personnel and spiritual spheres of life. 23rd July - 3rd August 2006

The following, experienced personnel, have confirmed as administrators for the camp: Dr Mahmood Datoo, Ali Panju, Hasnain Panjwani and Shabbar Dhalla. The Junior / Senior Camp will be managed by Fazle Abbas Kanji, and the Camp 16+ (formerly known as the ‘A Level Camp’) will be managed by Shan-E-Abbas Hassam. The confirmed teaches include Arif Hasham and Sheikh Shahnawaz. There are a wide range of sports and activities on offer. The following activities were undertaken last year: {josquote}football, cricket, beach volleyball, canoeing, tube-skiing, crate stacking, low ropes assault course, basketball and table tennis.{/josquote} The Camp 16+ was fortunate last year to go {josquote}horse trekking, absailing and rock climbing.{/josquote} Coaching will take place from the mentors and is key to the development of the campers. Not only does the camp encourage physical coaching, but also places priority on instilling team work, tolerance and leadership. The Camp will also aim to encourage campers to think laterally, an asset which can prove immensely useful in their everyday lives. Personnel Development Time will begin at 8pm on most days, and will include quizzes, debates, a daily news and postbag. There will be opportunities for campers to develop their public speaking skills. There will also be formal lessons with full-time resident lecturers, and alongside them the mentors will be given the opportunity to teach topical lessons. The Camp 16+ will be characterised with workshop-style, interactive classes including business games and negotiation exercises. Campers will depart from Stanmore on the 23rd July, and will return on the 3rd August. All are encouraged to apply. Early application is encouraged to avoid disappointment. Ages 11-14: 24 Places
