The Hilal Advisory Team has ascertained that 1st Jamaada al Ula is on Wednesday 7 May 2008 for the Muqallideen of Ayatullah Seestani and Marhum Ayatullah Khui. |

The astronomical New Moon is on Monday, 5 May 2008 at 1.19pm. Based on our community sighting criteria, the first sighting of the crescent should insha'allah occur in Alaska on Monday, 5 May 2008. The crescent should be visible in the whole world on Tuesday, 6 May 2008 except in Australia and New Zealand.
Should the crescent be sighted as expected, in accordance with rulings of Ayatullah Seestani (based on the Theory of Differing Horizons), 1st Jamaada al Ula will be on Wednesday, 7 May 2008. For the Muqallideen of Marhum Ayatullah Khui, 1st Jamaada al Ula will also be on the same day.
The Hilal Advisory Team will confirm the sighting as soon as possible.

The Hilal Advisory Team has ascertained that 1st Rabi al Thani will be on Tuesday, 8 April 2008 for the Muqallideen of Ayatullah Seestani. For the Muqallideen of Marhum Ayatullah Khui, 1st Rabi al Thaani is on Monday, 7 April 2008.

The Astronomical New Moon is on Sunday 6 April 2008. Based on our community sighting criteria, the first sighting of the crescent should Insha'allah occur in Mid Atlantic Ocean on this day. Mu'mineen in Newfoundland should be the first to be able to sight the crescent.
Should the crescent be sighted as expected, 1st Rabi al Thaani will be on Tuesday, 8 April 2008 for the Muqallideen of Ayatullah Seestani. As for the Muqallideen of Marhum Ayatullah Khui, 1st Rabi al Thaani will be on Monday, 7 April 2008.
