The Astronomical New Moon is on Thursday 3 July 2008 at 3.20a.m. Based on our community sighting criteria, the first sighting should insha'llah occur in mid Atlantic Ocean on Thursday 3 July 2008.
Should the crescent be sighted as expected, according to the rulings of Ayatullah Seestani (based on the Theory of Differing Horizons), 1st Rajab 1429 will be on Saturday, 5 July 2008. As for the Muqallideen of Marhum Ayatullah Khui, 1st Rajab 1429 will be on Friday 4th July 2008.
The Hilal Advisory Team will ascertain the sighting as soon as possible.
