Muharram Quiz – Results & Answers

The CoEJ Muharram Quiz received a phenomenal response with exactly one-hundred entrants taking part from all over the world. Entries were predominantly received from Europe, but community members from as far away as Dar-es-Salaam, Burundi and Hyderabad also took part.

The winners for the quiz were split between the two categories (under 16s, and those aged 16 and over).

We are very happy to announce that Ghulam Hussain Zailai from Leicester won the under 16s section with a score of 31, and that Sister Zahra Jaffer from Wessex won the 16+ category with a score of 35 (out of a possible 36).

The top five scores from both categories are listed below.

We would like to thank all the community members, young and old, who took part. The aim of this quiz was to encourage our community to spark an interest in reading and research related to the quiz topics; which inshAllah will continue.

The quiz was set up so that correct answers received one point, and incorrect answers lost the entrant a point; and the selection of the “I Don’t Know” option neither gained or lost the entrant a point. The thinking behind this was that there should be no reward for random guessing – we should be sure of what we know and inshAllah modest and honest about that we do not know.
