As the days and nights of the Holy Month of Ramadhan slip by, we are made all the more aware of the plight faced by our brothers and sisters in Pakistan.

In order to try and alleviate their anguish, The Council of European Jamaats and The World Federation of KSIMC, together with the support and assistance of Ahlulbayt TV held a live telethon on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd August in order to raise funds for those affected by the disaster.

The telethon was broadcast live on both days between 1.30 pm and 3.10 pm.

The World Federation was represented by Brother Shan-e-Abbas Hassam (Secretary of the Relief and Economic Development Desk of the WF) who did a commendable job as live anchor alongside Brother Murtaza Gulamhusein (Councillor & Relief Coordinator of CoEJ and NGO Coordinator to WF) and Brother Riyaz Ladha (representative of CoEJ) and Sister Saida Nasser of Stanmore Jamaat in encouraging mo'mineen to call and pledge funds to aid the relief effort. They poignantly highlighted the plight of the Pakistani people suffering from the after-effects of the catastrophic flood in the region.

The telethon would not have been possible without the assistance of a team of volunteers from Hyderi and Stanmore Jamaats working diligently in the background taking calls and processing donation payments. By the grace of the Almighty, the two day telethon raised a considerable sum of money for the appeal.

The situation faced by our brothers and sisters in Pakistan is desperate and unimaginable and our support is needed over the next few months in order to help them rebuild their homes and lives. We urge all of you to dig deep and donate as much as you can in the coming days and weeks.

As our Holy Prophet (saww) said:
"The All-Merciful, Blessed and most High, has mercy on those who are merciful towards others. Have mercy on the dwellers of the earth and the Lord of the Heavens will have mercy on you." Let us reap the rewards of this blessed Month and donate whatever we can whether it be our time or money for this worthy cause."
