Mentor: Fatema Mawji
Fatema was born in 1986 and is the youngest daughter of Roshanali and Gulzar Mawji. She has
1 brother and 2 sisters and resides in Essex. She attended Ilford Ursuline High School where she completed her A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and AS-Levels in Business Economics and General Studies. She went on to study Optometry at City University in London, where she achieved a first class honours degree. At University she was also the secretary of the City University Ahlul Bayt society, where she was involved in organising religious and social events for University students in London. She is now currently in her pre-registration year working at a high street Opticians in Colchester in Essex.
In her spare time she enjoys teaching a class at her local Sunday Madressa in Forest Gate, spending time with friends and family, running and kickboxing. She regularly attends both Essex and Stanmore Jamaat events and also likes to travel. In the past she has enjoyed skiing, diving in the Red Sea and climbing Mount Sinai. In December 2006 she was part of a group of youths from our community who visited India to create a documentary about the charity projects of the World Federation called the “The Journey Home”
She is looking forward to participating as a mentor in this year’s COEJ Sweden Camp.
