Mentor: Fatima Bharwani
Fatima Bharwani was born in Peterborough in 1987. Her father Mohammed Iqbal
was born in Hoima, Uganda and her mother lived in Arusha, Tanzania. They both migrated to the UK in 1974 and settled in Peterborough. She has three siblings, two brothers and a younger sister.
Fatima completed her GCSE and A level qualifications at Jack Hunt School, Peterborough. She moved to London in 2005 to study Dental Hygiene and Therapy at King’s College London. After successfully completing her course she graduated from Guy's, King's and St Thomas' dental institute in July 2008. Fatima has now moved back to Peterborough and works at a local private dental surgery, she has also been accepted on an NHS Vocational Training Scheme which will commence in September in the cities of Oxford and Northampton.
Fatima is a prominent member of the community; she is currently a dedicated teacher at Hussaini madressah she teaches akhlaq and tareek to her young and impressionable students. She is an active member of the jamaat and is always eager to contribute back to the community.
During her time at school she helped establish Talking in Confidence (TIC) a service that allowed pupils to seek support and advice. She has been involved with the University Islamic Society and Ahlul Bayt society to raise money for charitable causes. She is a keen netball player and enjoys playing badminton leisurely. She relishes reading and likes to travel and experience diverse cultures.
