This year the CoEJ young girl’s camp came to my home town, Stanmore.
This was my third year attending the camp and it was my favourite year so far. I especially enjoyed the Islamic workshops where we were taught all about the hijab and salaat because I learnt new facts that I was not fully aware of.
For example, when wearing a hijab you have to make sure that your hair is completely covered and your clothes have to be loose so that no one can see the shape of your body. We also attended other age appropriate workshops which were extremely useful and informative.
The best part about the camp was that combined with learning we had lots of fun! On one of the days we went on a River Thames boat ride, a ride on The London Eye and visited The London Aquarium. On another day we went ice skating and I was very excited as it was my first time on the ice rink.
Even when we stayed at the mosque we had lots of enjoyable activities to take part in, such as football, rounders, cake decorating and arts and crafts.
None of the above would have been enjoyable if it wasn’t for the friends I made at the camp. These friends were from all over the country, such as Peterborough, Leicester and Birmingham.
I am really looking forward to attending Coej Camp for my fourth and final year, next year and hope that the friends I made will also be there.
