15th Sha'baan One of The Greatest Gifts of Allah (SWT)

The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W.) had said that during the night of 15th Sha'baan, the Almighty takes decisions in the matters of:

1). Sustenance 2). Life and death 3). Welfare of the people.

Next to the “Night of Qadr” the Night of 15th Sha’baan is the most auspicious night (also known as “Night of Bara'at”).

According to the Imam Muhammad bin Ali Al Baqir (a.s.) and Jaa’f

ar bin Muhammad As Sadiq (a.s.), the Almighty Allah has promised to fulfil every legitimate desire put forward to Him tonight. During this night Allah (swt) bestows on HIS people from HIS bounty & forgives them out of HIS grace & generosity.

Of the blessings of this night is that, at the dawn of this night, was born the Leader of the Time Imam e Zamana (atfs) in Samarra -Iraq in the yr 255 AH .  Almighty Allah has chosen this night for the Ahl al-Bayt a.s., in the same way as He has chosen the Qadr Night for our Prophet—peace be upon him and his Family.

Ahadith in the book Iqbalul A‘mal - Hadhrat Jibreel visiting the Prophet (s.a.w.w.) said:  "Therefore, stay awake this night in prayer and worship and encourage your Ummah to also keep awake this night in order to get closer to Allah swt.  I have come to you while all the Angels in the Heavens are together with one another some are glorifying Allah, others are in Ruku‘, others are in the state of Sujud while others are busy in the Dhikr of Allah".

1). This is a night in which not a single person supplicates to Allah except that his prayers are accepted.
2). Nobody asks for a single thing on this night except that it will be given to him.
3). No one asks Allah for forgiveness except that his sins are wiped out.
4). No one turns in repentance to Allah except that He accepts their repentance.

Whoever is deprived of the goodness of this night has definitely been deprived of something great.

The first thing that Salik (the Wayfarer on the path towards Allah, Glorified and Exalted) must perform on this night is:

1). He must remove the material pleasures and enjoyments of this world from in front of his eyes (and from his heart).
2). In order to make the most of this special Night he should ensure that all of his actions are performed properly,
3). He must think to himself that tonight  is his last night on this Earth (meaning that tomorrow he shall die) and thus, he will no longer have the opportunity to perform any more good deeds and
4). Tomorrow the Day of Judgment will take place.  

It is advisable to stay awake during this full night in prayer as it has many rewards Ahadith has confirmed that as for one who spends this whole night with acts of worship, his heart will not die when other hearts die.

On the Night of 15th of Sha'baan:

1). Recite 100 times  
" سُبْحَانَ اللّهوَالْحَمْدُ لِلّهوَلا إلهَ إلاَّ اللّهوَاللّهُ أَكْبَرُ"
SUBH’AANALLAAH WALH’AMDU LILLAH e WA-LAA ILAAHA ILLALLAAH hO WAL ALLAAHU AKBAR " &  'LAA ILAAHA ILLALLAAH "

2). Take Ghusl (Bath) with the thought of washing away sins & as if its your last Ghusl

3). Recite 100 times 'Astaghfirullah '  tasbih with attention to seeking forgiveness

4). Recite Ziyaarat of Imam Husayn (A.S.)  & Special Ziarat for 15 Rajab/15 Shaban  as all the Prophets & Angels visit the Imam on this night

As a short salutation ,one may go to the terrace/elevated place , look left , right & towards the  sky & recite :-
Peace be upon you; O Aba-`Abdullah!  -Assalmo Alalika Ya aba Abdillah -  السَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللّه،
Peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you.  - Asalaamo alikum wa rahmatullah e wabarakatoh -  السَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ وَرَحْمَةُ اللّه وَبَرَكَاتُهُ.

5). The following is also recommended on this night :

a)     Dua –e- Kumayl
b)     Reciting Sura Yasin (#36) 3 times. For :
i)      Long Life
ii)     Safety against misfortunes
iii)    Protection against sudden death.

6). There are other short duas to be recited

7). On this night we  may write an ARIZA. - A letter to the Imam of our time, a request for our Hajat to be fulfilled.

Translation of Dua-e-Ariza

I have written to you O my master, may His mercy and blessing be on you, seeking a favour from you.
I have complained to you for what has happened to me seeking solutions
firstly from Allah and then from you for a matter that has obsessed me.
I am helpless in combating the problem and for that I have resorted to seeking help from Allah and from you.
Knowing the status you have with Allah.
I am confident that you will help me get the solutions to my problems swiftly and that you will intercede on my behalf.
I am helpless and moreover I am sinful:
so help O master and present this problem to Allah and I pray to Him that He will solve this quickly
and grant me victory and success in finding the solution to my problems.

I am not able to carry or bear with it. Although I am responsible for the increase of my sins and
ignorant about my responsibilities (Wajibaats), from Allah which are given to me.
So help me O my master.  Peace be upon you during this time of problems and sorrow.
presents my prayers to Allah before I compensate and before my enemies engulfs me. For you have shown me your blessings.
So I pray to Allah for great salvation and near victory with calmness from all fears,
for Allah is most high and does what he wants. Allah is sufficient for me from beginning and in my hopes.
Whatever Allah wish there is neither strength nor any power except in Allah the High, the Great.

*When dropping the Ariza in the sea, we normally recite the following,
addressing Husayn bin Rawh, the 3rd Na’ib of the 12th Imam:

“O Husayn bin Rawh, Salamun Alykum.
I bear witness that you died in the path of Allah and (hence), you are alive and are sustained by Allah.
I am addressing you in your life which you lead with Allah – this is my note and wishes to the master of the Era,
the 12th Imam (AS), so please hand it over to him for you are indeed trustworthy”.
