14 Lessons from Karbala In The Evening of Arbaeen

1. DO NOT ACCEPT HUMILIATION : In one of his speeches, Imam Hussein a.s. said that the authorities in Kufa had given him only two options - humiliation or death. He carried on to say,'And we do not accept humiliation'. A tradition reported by Imam Sadiq a.s records that, other than not accepting humiliation, Allah Almighty has given to believers a choice in all matters.

2. BROAD-MINDEDNESS : This means thinking independently and being just in one's judgements. Not simply following others blindly and keeping one's eyes closed. On the Day of Ashura Imam Hussein a.s. addressed Yazid's troops:O followers of Abu Sufyan, if you are not following the teachings of Islam then as freemen, be independent of judgement. Ma'rifah Spiritual Retreat 2012 with Shaykh Arif Abdul Hussain and Shaykh Mohammed Al-Hilli

After the success of the first Ma'rifah trip in 2009, the Islamic Cultural Affairs committee (ICA) of CoEJ have organised their second Islamic spiritual retreat in the vibrant city of Marrakech, Morocco.
The retreat is aimed at male participants preferably aged 21+.
The retreat will benefit from two English speaking specialists in the field of Islamic ethics and spirituality who will conduct all the sessions throughout the duration of the retreat. The spiritual guides for this year's retreat will be Shaykh Arif Abdul Hussain and Shaykh Mohammed Al-Hilli.
