East_Africa_2011Following success in previous years, the CoEJ Health Improvement Board (HIB) are once again organising a voluntary trip to East Africa in July 2011.

This is a life-changing experience for both the volunteers and for those whom they will meet with during the trip. 

The invaluable experience gained by volunteers will provide them with skills that may be required not only for future careers, but also in life!  East Africa has been specifically chosen as

this gives an opportunity to assist our own communities.

The Health Improvement Board of CoEJ are promoting their July 2011 voluntary trip to Tanzania and you are welcomed to apply for a place.

This year the opportunity is extended to both professionals and non-professionals. In the past 2 years, the trip was geared towards  students aged between 17 and 25. This year the health improvement board have extended the opportunity to professionals in the following  fields: Doctors, Dentists, Opticians, Pharmacists, Nurses and Teachers to volunteer in Kibaha, Tanzania, for 2 weeks in July. They are looking for a team to consist of 6 professionals and 6-12 non professional assistants. Applicants over the age of 17 are welcomed.

Researchers there had 33 women eat a variation on the same garden salad 20 minutes before a main pasta course. When the salads were topped with low-fat mozzarella and low-calorie Italian dressing instead of high-fat alternatives, the women ate 10 percent fewer calories over the course of the day.
