Home Boards And Desks Health Projects Vaccinations for Hajj

ImageFor many years the Health Improvement Board (HIB) has organised meningitis and flu vaccinations for Hujjaj travelling with the European Hajj Mission (EHM).  It has always proved to be very successful and convenient to have vaccines done at the Hajj seminar; saving the time and inconvenience of visiting your local GP and also saving on cost. In 1429 this service was extended to all Hajj groups across the United Kingdom.  A new team was formed, receiving guidance from the volunteers of EHM and

group leaders were contacted and offered the service.  Alhamdulillah the service was taken up by a few groups and vaccination programs were held at 4 seminars including EHM. At the seminar Hujjaj are able to receive information about the vaccines allowing them to give consent to have the injection, obtain their vaccine and vaccination card all for a nominal cost.

Inshallah in 1430 we will be able to run more vaccination programs for other groups making them accessible to Hujjaj across the country. If you are a group leader for any of the Hajj groups and require our services, please contact Sister Farhana Jagani at least 12 weeks before your seminar or earlier so that the team has enough time to set up the service for your group.

Health Tip

" Start with salad...
and eat less during the rest of the meal, says a recent study from Pennsylvania State University. Researchers there had 33 women eat a variation on the same garden salad 20 minutes before a main pasta course. When the salads were topped with low-fat mozzarella and low-calorie Italian dressing instead of high-fat alternatives, the women ate 10 percent fewer calories over the course of the day.
