HIB_Retreat_2012The Health Improvement Board of CoEJ held a retreat on the 25th of February 2012 at Harben House, Newport Pagnell for its members to meet and plan the future strategy of the CoEJ sub-committee. The retreat was facilitated by the capacity building team of CoEJ under the leadership of Dr. Sarfraz Jeraj and Dr. Akber Mohamedali.

We had a good attendance of the current office bearers, volunteers and some new faces at the retreat. The discussions were robust and productive and various issues were highlighted as discussed below. First, the vision for HIB was discussed, in turn formalising an agreed vision.

xray-tanzania-2010Protecting the health and wellness of our families is important to us and in this spirit, The World Federation of KSIMC is urging community members worldwide to help fund a new digital x-ray machine for the Ebrahim Haji Charitable Health Centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The X-Ray Department at the Health Centre is open 6 days a week, 12 hours a day. Physicians use x-rays to help diagnose disease and injury so that they can then chart out the best course of treatment for their patients.

At present, the Health Centre is faced with the challenge of balancing a limited budget and the pressing need for a fully functioning and reliable x-ray machine. With the number of x-rays performed at the clinic increasing day by day, the current machine has become old and often does not work, compromising the health and well being of so many patients.
