Health Professionals in the Community
Health improvement board (HIB) is a part of the Council of European Jama’ats which is responsible for all projects relating to healthcare in the European communities. This includes projects such as medical screening programs, Hajj medical assistance together with health promotion drives. We are always re-organising ourselves so that we can provide a more improved services to all European communities.
We are also looking to meet the changing demands of modern health care professionals in our community and provide them with a network where they can exchange views and also identify future projects we can embark on. We also wish to update the current list and recognise newly qualified professionals in our communities.

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Protecting the health and wellness of our families is important to us and in this spirit, The World Federation of KSIMC is urging community members worldwide to help fund a new digital x-ray machine for the Ebrahim Haji Charitable Health Centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The X-Ray Department at the Health Centre is open 6 days a week, 12 hours a day. Physicians use x-rays to help diagnose disease and injury so that they can then chart out the best course of treatment for their patients.
At present, the Health Centre is faced with the challenge of balancing a limited budget and the pressing need for a fully functioning and reliable x-ray machine. With the number of x-rays performed at the clinic increasing day by day, the current machine has become old and often does not work, compromising the health and well being of so many patients.

On 7 th March 2010, the Health Improvement Board Screening Team of The Council of European Jamaats visited Wessex Jamaat to carry out its popular health screening on the Jamaat members. As always, the day was well attended, with almost 100 people coming to be screened. The screening days attracted members of all ages, from young to old. They catered for all ages, with paediatricians at hand for the children so the whole family could leave with valuable health advice.
Of the stations that they offered, the cardiovascular risk station is always a favourite to begin with. Although with advice centred on weight loss, doing more exercise and giving up smoking, it quickly becomes the least favourite.

Swine flu, otherwise known as the H1N1 influenza infection has now spread globally affecting a large number of people. The illness is mild like the common cold in most people and can last between 5 to 7 days before recovery takes place. It is feared that there could be an outbreak of the swine flu during the Hajj this year and arrangements are being made to provide assessment and treatment centres to the hujjaj who have flu-like illness in case of the swine flu. However, prevention is always better than a cure.
Click here to download the PDF leaflet: Swine Flu (H1N1) and Hajj
This leaflet aims to provide information about swine flu including the symptoms, treatment and preventative measures which can be taken by all Hujjaj. |
