Hajj 1430:  Message from the President

“And proclaim the Hajj to people:  they shall come to you on foot and on lean camels coming from distant places.”  (Surat Al-Hajj, 22:27)

My Dear Brothers, Sisters and Loving Children,

Salaamun Alaykum. Alhamdulillah, we have been bestowed with the Almighty’s Blessings as we are fortunate enough to be gathered together for the holy month of Dhul Hijjah.

I take this opportunity to extend my sincere congratulations to all Mo’mineen who are at present preparing to embark on a journey of a lifetime by answering the awaited call of the Almighty with ‘Labbayk’. You are among the fortunate few whose Du’as that we all recited during the holy month of Ramadhan have been answered by Allah (SWT).  Leaving behind your families, your work and all material possessions for the sake of Allah (SWT), you will be joining our fellow brothers and sisters from across the world, from all paths of life, from of all trades and backgrounds to come together in Mecca in a unified response to His Divine call.

The Hajj is the human being’s evolution to Allah (SWT), where man returns to his origin. All of the different stages of the Hajj symbolize this return to our Creator, beginning at the Miqat where we remove the garments of disobedience and the ‘duniya’ and put on the attire of obedience, Tawheed, purity and humility. Throughout the journey, we repent for our sins and struggle to let go of our shortcomings so that we can attain closeness with our Creator. Imam Husayn (AS) says: “When a Haji sacrifices in the desert of Mina, his sacrifices will be the price of his freedom from the fire of the Resurrection Day.” Subhanallah.

In a time and world where Muslims are faced with so many challenges and our faith is tested in different ways, I ask that you remember those who have passed on, those who are ill, those who live in oppression and those who are facing difficulties in their lives.  I urge you to pray for peace, brotherhood and unity to prevail not only for all of humanity, but among Muslims as well as our global Shia community.

As we bid you all farewell, we pray for your safe journey, good health, and a safe return to your families and your communities.  May Allah (SWT) accept your Hajj and may He fulfil your every hajjaat. Ameen.

With Salaams and Du’as,

Dr. Asghar Moledina
President
