Mentor Profile - Abbas Akber Print E-mail
Abbas Akbar was born on the 16th November, aside from migrating from Saudi Arabia to East Africa and then to the UK, he had an interesting childhood.  He completed his GCSE’s at King’s Heath Boys School.

During his secondary school years, he was a member of Birmingham’s Youth Parliament, amongst different events that were organised what was good to see was that the local MP’s and authorities took into account the views of the youth, and the youth parliament was a platform for youth to express their opinions and debate issues.

His first experience of working in the community was helping to run the World Federation’s Ramadhan Relief scheme in Birmingham. He also worked on World Federation’s India Documentary (The Journey Home) where he experienced working with the camera, and working in the post filming team to help launch the documentary. It was great to go back to India and see our community’s work there for the last 30 years. He was also tasked with the Media Role, two years ago for the Iran Camps.

Recently he helped organise a Media training weekend, and hopes for a more positive engagement and good external relations for our communities.  He is tasked with the Media role in Sweden and hopes to take good pictures so parents can see their children enjoying themselves during the camp.
