Mentor Profile - Sajeeda Panjwani
Sajeeda Panjwani was born in Chelmsford, Essex, UK. Her father Marhum Shiraz was originally from Dar-es-Salaam and mum Tasneem from Uganda. Sajeeda has lived in UK most of her life, except from the age of 3 to 8 she lived in Dubai, UAE. Sajeeda has two siblings. An older brother Muntazir, and a younger brother Qumayl.
The secondary school Sajeeda attended was Moulsham High School in Chelmsford, where She achieved 10 GCSE's and 4 Alevels.
During A-Levels Sajeeda was an active member of a service called Listening Ear. It was a service targeted at younger students who may have had problems within school or at home and the service was there to help them. Sajeeda was partially trained in counselling so that she could approach the students professionally. In the second year of the service Sajeeda was made Head.
After A-Levels Sajeeda went to study a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design Foundation. She studied this at Colchester Institute for a year and achieved a Pass.
After the Diploma Sajeeda went on to study a BA in Interior Design at Portsmouth University. She is currently coming to the end of her second year and has enjoyed it thoroughly having achieved high grades so far and has the opportunity to work over the summer with clients on two projects.
Out of Education Sajeeda enjoys playing a various amount of sports. She enjoys playing netball, tennis, squash, basketball, badminton and cricket. Some of these sports Sajeeda use to play for her school team.
Sajeeda also enjoys reciting nawahs and marthiyas and has been reciting from a young age. Sajeeda has also had the opportunity to be part of Inter-Faith in Essex Jamaat, where various schools from around the area come and get an insight into Islam.
Sajeeda also use to help teach Quranic Art at Stanmore Madressa and found it a quality she could take along with her to the 2008 Sweden summer camp last year to teach the campers. Sajeeda had the privilege to be part of the mentor team last year and found it the most enlightening experinence. Sajeeda has always enjoyed working with children, and being part of Sweden camp last year made her realise that it was her comfort zone. Having taken the experience of last year Sajeeda hopes to come back a more developed mentor.
