Mentor Profile - Sayyedah Remtulla
Sayyedah Remtulla was born in 1988 in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Her father, Mazaher is originally from Tanzania and her mother, Abassabano was from Mozambique and migrated early to Lisbon, Portugal. She then moved to Tanzania in 1986 after marriage, and the family migrated to London in 1999.
Sayyedah is the eldest of three children, followed by a sister and brother.
Sayyedah attended The Archbishop Lanfranc School in Croydon where she completed her GCSE’s. She was appointed as senior prefect in year 10 and also took part in all school sports days and after school netball tournaments. She completed her BTEC National Diploma in Science at Coulsdon College and went on to study Bsc Biomedical Science at Brunel University for one year and then decided to change course to Bsc Genetics at University of Westminster which is due to start in Early October.
She finished her Islamic Studies at Hyderi Islamic School in South London including GCSE’s and AS level in Islamic Studies, and is now a core part of Hyderi Islamic School Administration Team and also a teacher for infants aged 6 – 7.
Sayyedah has also worked voluntarily at the Ebrahim Haji Charitable Hospital in Dar es Salaam in 2008 while on holiday.
She attended GCSE revision course in Peterborough in 2004 which was organised by COEJ.
Sayyedah joined COEJ whilst at college assisting secretariat in all admin tasks, attending various meetings and events. She had been a mentor at girl’s camp for the past 2 years in Wales and Isle of Wight.
She is currently working on full time basis at The CoEJ secretariat office in South London.
Sayyedah is also multilinguistic. She speaks Gujrati, Kutchi, Spanish, Portuguese, and English and is currently studying Arabic.
She has a passion for travelling, sports, and volunteering in all sorts of charitable work that benefits others. She also attended a short course in applying henna whilst on her holiday in Dar es Salaam.
She recently participated in Aliasgher Water Project and the Gaza Appeal project on behalf of her Jamaat.
