ImageMuhammad-Abbas Rajani was born in 1988 in Leicester, UK. His parents Munira and Sultanali Karmali Rajani are both originally from Tanzania. Muhammad-Abbas is from a family of three, an older sister and a younger brother.

 

At his secondary school, The Lancaster Boys School, he finished with above average grades in 11 GCSE’s and a distinction in GNVQ ICT. At school he was a prominent member of the School Council committee, and also took part in the Junior Sports Leadership award as well as working in the school bank. He then went to the Wygesston and Queen Elizabeth I college and studied A-Level Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Physics and As-Level Further Maths. He is currently studying Medicine at the University of Birmingham. Earlier this year Muhammad-Abbas was given a unique opportunity to work closely with consultants and physiotherapists in their research to develop a shoulder therapy pathway for the NHS.

In Ramadhan 2004 he received a “recognition of services to the youth” award from The Behlool Society, Leicester, and also a “recognition of services to the community” award from Masjid-Al-Husayn, Leicester, in 2006.

He was involved in the Behlool Society, and was a teacher at the Sharikatul Hussain Saturday Workshop in Leicester. Muhammad-Abbas has also served in the Leicester Jamaat committee as joint secretary. Muhammad-Abbas enjoys working with young adults. He has been to the Sweden Camp as a senior camper in 2003, an A-Level camper in 2005 and a mentor in 2007. This year he is joining the camp again as a mentor.

He plays a variety of sports. He played for his college hockey team, and also regularly plays Medics Football and Badminton. He has also taken part in many CoEJ annual sports tournaments playing football and badminton for Leicester Jamaat; in 2006, he was winner of the under eighteen doubles badminton and runner up in singles. He also enjoys reading and has recently taken up squash. Muhammad-Abbas is also an avid car enthusiast.
