ImageHasnain Ramji was born in 1986 in Birmingham, UK. His father, Mustafa, originally from Tanzania , migrated to the UK in 1977 and his mother, Fatima, from Uganda first migrated to Karachi, Pakistan before marrying and moving to the UK to settle in Birmingham. Hasnain is the second of their two sons.

Hasnain attended The King Edward’s VI School in Birmingham where he achieved top grade results in all ten GCSEs, AS Level and all four A Levels subjects. He also obtained several awards during his time at secondary school including: three Gold UK Mathematics awards. He then went on to study Optometry at Aston University where he graduated with a BSc honours degree; and is currently due to complete his pre-registration year in a large renowned optical company and aims to be registered as a fully qualified optometrist by the time of the camp.

He has taken part in several extra-curricular activities including the CCF (Combined Cadet Force) Army, where he obtained the rank of sergeant, winning many national military competitions, one such was the Tremlett trophy, a prestigious award given to the top cadets of the country. He was also an avid marksman during his time in the CCF. His other hobbies include running, playing football and snooker which he plays regularly.

Hasnain has been an active volunteer at Birmingham Jamaat and is currently an assistant at the Madrasah in Birmingham where he has been involved with a number of background tasks including the writing of the primary syllabus. He is currently a member of the CoEJ Education Committee in which he has been involved with organising and running various projects and the chairing of some of its events.

He has previously been a mentor at the CoEJ AS Level camp, was a speaker at the 2006 UCAS seminar and attended the Sweden camp as a mentor in 2006 and 2007. Hasnain has a passion for travel, particularly to Iran where he has attended various courses spending the summers studying in the Hawzas in Qum, and learning Farsi.
