ImageArif was born in Harold Wood, Essex, in 1989, but in 1996 the family moved and settled in Northwood, NW London. His father Minazali , an ever present nauha and marthiya recitor for Stanmore mosque, and mother Anisha were born in Uganda but had to flee the country due to the expulsion decreed by Idi Amin, both of them eventually finding themselves in the UK. Arif is fortunate to have a younger brother, Sadiq. After attending primary school locally, Arif's educational career took him to Dr Challoner's Grammar School in Amersham. Here he attained 11 GCSE's and A-levels in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and French as well as an AS-level in Further Maths. Whilst at the school he was part of the Student Council throughout the GCSE years and served as prefect in 6th form. Finishing secondary school has lead Arif to the challenge of university where he, Alhamdulillah, has just finished his first year of Medicine at King's College London. Arif was a teacher at the Hujjat Saturday Workshop for three years mainly teaching in Qur'an recitation to a wide range of skill groups. He has also given 10 minute speeches during Ramadan and has volunteered for services such as the Iraqi Orphan Fund. His interests spread far and wide from the fictional realms of books to the programmed world of video games to the big screen of film and finally ending with his passion for sport, especially football & Manchester United and Badminton. He was a camper in 2005 and as a mentor for this year's 2008 camp he looks to give back to the camp the same memorable experiences it offered him.
