Shabbir is a 19 years old male born and bred in the historical, but now modernised twin cathedral city of Portsmouth. Due to his Islamic birth date (1st Muharram) his beloved grandmother named him Shabbir. His father is Hassan Pyarali Merali, son of Pyarali Mohammedali Merali, son of Mohammedali Merali Dewji, son of Merali Dewji who was born in India in 1875 and before the end of the century, he emigrated to Kenya settling in Lamu. In the early parts of the 20th Century, he moved to Mombasa. His secondary education was in Portsmouth Grammar School where he obtained 3A*s 1A 4Bs and a (high) C. He studied A-levels at Havant college where he achieved 3As and went on to study medicine at UCL where he is currently. Shabbir was part of the memorable experience of Sweden camp 2001 as a student and since then, his dream has been to earn the honourable role as a Sweden mentor.
