Thinking of the things that we as mentors and campers did on day four while sitting in the bench outside the dining room enjoying the sunshine, I have to say there is a lot to say.
The highlight of the day I personally feel was the trip to Stockholm. It all started with the both campers and mentors being excited about this trip by getting to breakfast earlier than ever. We all then had to get our packed lunch. It was encouraging to see Jupiter taking on the responsibility from the mentors on serving the lunch. I was extremely pleased as they did this out of their own choice and were taking the responsibility of being role models for the junior campers.
Soon we were to leave the camp site and head towards Stockholm. The coach journey was exciting as it allowed me to spend more time with campers on one-to-one basis while also being able to discuss and talk to the planet as a whole. Once we got off the coach in Stockholm we walked to a park nearby and had our lunch. All the campers and mentors seemed to have a lot of energy so after lunch we went around the shops nearby in our planets. We then headed towards mosque to pray namaaz. Visiting a local Sunni mosque to pray namaaz was something out of the ordinary for many of the campers.
We then got into the tube and headed towards the ‘old’ part of the city. Then it was shopping time and walk towards Central Station. A few of us had the opportunity to get into cafes to have coffee, hot chocolate, etc. It was then time to board the coach and had back to the camp site. During this journey some of the mentors and campers had the privilege to take a nap while those who had the energy were playing interesting games. Some of these games evolved from naming football players to naming prophets and is what makes the CoEJ Sweden camps successful as the everyone is trying their best to aim ‘towards excellence’.
The end of the for campers is planet time where myself and my co-mentor Shabir Merali spent time discussing some of the important things in life that we as followers of the Ahlul Bayt should be focusing on. The planet time was concluded with playing a group game. However, the day only ends for the mentors and admin after the meeting. Fortunately, today the meeting finished earlier allowing me to take a nap before Fajr namaaz.
