Profiles - Boys

The role of the mentors and of members of the Admin team is of crucial importance to the Camp’s atmosphere, and play a pivotal role in the development of each and every camper. The mentors and Admin members all individually share a variety of experiences, traits and characteristics. It is for this reason that the Camp has placed the profile of every member of the Admin team and of all the Mentors onto the website, to reflect and symbolise their pedigree and character.

Abbas Akbar was born on the 16th November, aside from migrating from Saudi Arabia to East Africa and then to the UK, he had an interesting childhood.  He completed his GCSE’s at King’s Heath Boys School. Read more...

ImageZahir-Abbas was born in Märsta, Sweden, and lived there for the first six years of his life. His family then migrated to England where they settled temporarily in Leicester but then finalised their settlement in the UK in their current residence in North West London. Zahir-Abbas’ father, Gulammehdi Sumar was born in Zanzibar and his Mother, Ruhy, was born in Tanga. Zahir-Abbas also has two siblings, an older brother Imraan and a younger sister Zaynab. He speaks Swedish, English and Kutchi whist also being able to understand a few other Indian languages.

ImageArif was born in Harold Wood, Essex, in 1989, but in 1996 the family moved and settled in Northwood, North-West London. His father Minazali, an ever present nawha and marthiya recitor at Stanmore mosque, and mother Anisha were born in Uganda but had to flee the country due to the expulsion decreed by Idi Amin, both of them eventually finding themselves in the UK. ImageIt was 19 years ago on the 16th of February, before the break of dawn, that Shuayb entered this world. A small baby boy, the third child of Abbas and Shamim Ismail, Shuayb came into this life with silence and did not start to speak until the age of 3, much to the worry of his parents. Claiming his heritage from 2 continents and 3 countries (India, Iran and Tanzania), Shuayb was blessed from a young age to visit far off places. It was through this travel that Shuayb developed his experiences of the world around him and his perceptions and ideas of the way we interact.

His father, Mustafa, originally from Tanzania, migrated to the UK in 1977 and his mother, Fatima, from Uganda first migrated to Karachi, Pakistan before marrying and moving to the UK to settle in Birmingham. ImageMurtaza was born in Nairobi, Kenya in 1986, and lived there until his family migrated to London in 1992. His roots are somewhat diverse, Shirin his mother traces back her roots to India while his father, Hussein is half Iranian and half Iraqi.
