World Federation granted NGO Status |
|
The World Federation is pleased to announce the achievement of Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) status as a special consultative standing with the United Nation's Economic and Social Council. This milestone is a significant development in the history of the organisation as it allows The World Federation greater opportunities to make greater achievements with far greater capacity in the service of our world wide community.
In keeping with our faith, The World Federation has a number of multinational charitable projects and philanthropic programmes providing relief in a variety of fields, including housing, education, primary health care and welfare for the widows, orphans and the needy. With this new NGO status, we can now explore the possibility of obtaining more funding for our projects from various sources.
Our status as an international NGO opens a new frontier of mutually beneficial partnerships with other organisations that can assist in implementing our objectives. At the same time, we are committed to remain focused on the primary objective of the World Federation, which is "to promote the Shia Ithna-Asheri faith throughout the world, to relieve poverty amongst the members of the Community; and to educate members of the Community." The President of The World Federation, Dr. Ahmed Hassam expresses his sincere appreciation: "I would like to pay a special tribute to Brother Shabbir Murtaza Lakha for his professionalism and dedication in submitting an excellent application on behalf of the World Federation and thereafter at his effective personal lobbying at the United Nations in New York. I pray that he continues his services to our community at the local, regional and international level. May Allah (SWT) amply reward him for all his efforts." For further information, please email
