Media attacks on Muslim Council of Britain |

Dear Sirs, I was appalled by the article in the Guardian for its lack of fact and abundance of spin. Here is my response to the reader of the paper: - Best wishes
Sid Kipper ---------------- Dear Sir, As a young British Muslim and a regular Guardian reader, I was disheartened by Martin Bright's recent article on the Muslim Council of Britain. I found the journalism both inaccurate and sensationalist. Given that the Muslim community in the UK comprises so many people from different backgrounds, it is no mean feat to find a body that is representative of each and every Muslim in the country. The MCB is run by democratically elected volunteers. It is still in its embryonic stages as a voice for Muslims in this country . To mislead the public into believing that the MCB has "its roots in the extremist politics of Pakistan" is a very serious charge to make at such a critical time for Muslims in this country, especially when it is unsubstantiated. Furthermore, the "investigation" that Martin Bright conducted was nothing more than visiting the MCB website- the letter was openly published in a letter to Mark Thompson. This reaks of sensationalist journalism, something I generally felt I could avoid when picking up a copy of The Guardian. Yours faithfully, Sid.
