It’s the end of day ten in the Sweden Summer camp. Strong friendships between the campers and with the mentors have emerged. The day started with breakfast slightly earlier due to the long awaited trip to the theme park. The breakfast was similar routine with cereals, eggs and toast being served and the conversations available to the campers with Dr. Mahmood Datoo, Sheikh and the rest of the admin and mentors. There was an energetic feel around the breakfast room with all campers feeling energetic and excited.
There was an unusual twist to the day’s activities. The campers were given the opportunity to pick and mix their lunch options which included selecting from a variety of crisps, chocolates, drinks and sandwiches (that the admin and the chefs stayed awake VERY, VERY late making them). After selecting our lunch options, it was finally time to go onto the coach. The whole Mercury planet was split up due to the options provided to the campers to choose their own group and mentors. The groupings were one mentor to every four campers. The coach was nice and spacious and even had a toilet (even though it didn’t work). Throughout the whole ride various conversations and games such as top trunks and naming footballers in the premiership were played. Due to the games, the thirty minute bus ride seemed a 5 minute ride. We had finally arrived at our destination which was the Grona Lund Theme park. The weather was sunny and hot and with minimal amount of people at the theme park when we arrived gave the campers the opportunity to visit the popular rides earlier to save on the long queues that resulted later. The rides varied that catered for all campers such as big fast roller coasters to slow rides. The favourite ride shown by most campers was Fun House with nearly every camper visiting it at least two times with certain individuals pushing it to four times. The highlight of the day was praying Namaaz at 1 P.M. out in the public which resulted in an audience occurring. Having arrived at the theme park at 11 and told to return at 17.30 still didn’t seem enough with campers running around in the last hour to get onto as many rides as possible which resulted in certain campers arriving later then planned. During the coach ride back home, several campers fell asleep within the first five minutes of the coach leaving the theme park. This just showed the general consensus felt by all the campers. On arriving at the camp site, we were given 30 minutes to freshen up before dinner was served. The dinner served today was mince ball curry with rice or bread followed by planet time, P.D.T, Desert and namaaz. This was very tiring but also amusing passing the evening quickly. This has probably and will be the best day of the camp. P.s. Even though several people did have butter flies in their stomach on the rides, no-one fell sick throughout the day.
