Not long now to the Camp – only 18 days left! This weekend, we will all be attending the Mentor Training Weekend held at the IEB Offices in North London . The objective of the weekend is simple: mentor training . It may sound easy, but so much will be packed into the weekend, it promises to be as exciting yet as tiring at the Camp itself.
Interestingly, Admin have unanimously decided that the theme for the Mentor Training Weekend will be to base it around a day in the Camp. Mentors will be the campers, and will be given tips on how to act, and what to do in certain situations. Advice will be given and experiences shared. Again, this year Admin will present the Mentors with the infamously yet aptly titled DOOM document – the ‘Daily Objectives of Mentors’ which all the mentors will become accustomed to. This year for the first time all Mentors and Admin team members will undergo the Myers Brigs Type Indicator Test under the instructions of Yasin Rahim who has been specifically trained. The main benefits of this are that mentors will learn more about themselves and this will mean that other mentors can quickly pick up on their strengths and weaknesses, in turn making the Camp even more of a success!
On other fronts, the total camp number has now reached 30, and so there is space for only two more lucky applicants. Applications will close on Saturday 8th July.
That’s all from me, for now: I’m sure you will hear from me soon.
