As part of our work with the local Ethnic Minority (EM) community via our EM ‘Outreach’ Action Plan and also to celebrate the integration of EM children within the local community, we held a multicultural football tournament last year on 2 August. The event was hailed as a great success with over 50 youths taking part in what was a physically challenging but fun event with excellent interaction between teams at all times.
In view of the very positive response we received from participants, we have decided to arrange another sporting event and call upon your kind assistance to help us promote it amongst your communities.
The event will be open to boys and girls of all ethnic backgrounds aged between 14 and 16 years who live in the Portsmouth area and will comprise of a football tournament and an indoor badminton competition. Parents, guardians and supporters are also encouraged to attend and there will be an opportunity for them to speak with our career advisers about working in the Ministry of Defence. The event has been arranged with the assistance and advice of several EM community leaders, covering aspects such as cultural and ethical needs.
As stated on the attached application form, completed forms can either be returned via yourself or sent directly to me by Monday 15 October 2007.
