Community Organiser for South London Citizens

Salary  £19,000 to £25,000 circa.

LONDON CITIZENS is seeking an experienced and creative Community Organiser to be the main Organiser working with SOUTH LONDON CITIZENS (member groups presently drawn from Greenwich, Lewisham, Southwark, Lambeth, Wandsworth and
Croydon) - to join our generic team of Community Organisers. This Organiser will support and sustain the present membership of 20 plus groups and seek to broaden and deepen the membership of groups across South London. The skills required include teaching, leadership and the ability to relate and inspire people of different ages, ethnicities and traditions. A relevant and proven track record of success in 'organising' invaluable as is an interest in the human condition and the voluntary associations which support it and are the pillars of a democratic society.

Funding from local dues and City Bridge Trust. Closing date mid September.

Interviews end of September 2007 to start immediately.

Schools Organiser for London Citizens

Salary £28,000 plus.

LONDON CITIZENS is seeking a qualified and experienced secondary school teacher - ideally with teaching experience of Citizenship, to join our generic team of Community Organisers. This Organiser will support , recruit and sustain CITIZENS member groups from across the capital that provide a service to young people aged 16 to 25 years old. This will include Sixth Form Colleges, Students Unions, Islamic Students Societies and other informal groupings of young people who are members - e.g. Hip Hop Generation. The Organiser will be expected to provide appropriate curriculum teaching material (which relate to CITIZENS campaigns); occasionally teach and train; liaise with CITIZENS link staff and students in member groups; seek out and recruit new young peoples groups and work alongside the generic Organisers on shared tasks/campaigns etc.  Funding from City Bridge Trust.

Closing date mid September. Interviews end of September 2007. To start as soon as possible.

Community Organiser (Temporary. Mid Nov 07 to mid March 08); for TELCO.

Based in Whitechapel.

Salary £19,000 to £28,000 circa.

The main TELCO Organiser is having a four month study break from the middle of this November until the middle of March 2008. A temporary four month appointment is thus proposed in main Organiser's absence to work with TELCO's Associate Organiser. This appointment will support TELCO's member communities in Newham and Hackney and share the Tower Hamlets membership with the Associate Organiser. It is hoped that a leader from one of TELCO's member community may be interested in this appointment - if so they will need to have done the two day training (minimally) and will be required to attend the COF five day training in October by way of Induction. Funding from the Big Lottery.
