 Info:

Looking for a career? Stuck for choice? Don’t know where to turn? The youth of Birmingham are calling community members of various professions to give YOU the insight into possible careers. Information will include which A-Levels to take, university courses to attend and professional examinations required.

Participants will be able to speak to professionals on a 1-2-1 basis to gain a personal insight into careers available. An unmissable event for those unsure of their future.

The Education Committee of the Council of European Jamaats has organised the fifth UCAS  Seminar, which shall take place on Saturday 8 September 2007 in Birmingham as part of the CoEJ Careers Day. The seminar, tailored to students applying for University, will be conducted by Arif Hasham and Aqil Datoo.

The course will help students through filling in the form, and structuring their personal statement. It will provide invaluable resources to enable them to build their own personal statement that showcases their abilities and character in the best possible light. Application advice and interview tips will also be covered, including thoughts and comments from admissions tutors. The course aims to highlight what is being looked for by universities, and how students should present themselves to give the best impression.

Entering university is a difficult time; managing finances, living away from home and doing your own washing! (or living at home and the challenges that are faced). The Education committee’s annual Freshers Fair aims to guide participants through this potential minefield; through focussed discussion circles and personal insights the main challenges of university life are exposed and dealt with.

This event is open only to freshers to allow the speakers and participants to be as candid and open as possible. Mature freshers are also welcome.

Mock interviews with feedback will be available on a first come first served basis. These will be 20 min interviews, with 10 minutes of personal feedback to improve your chances of being accepted. Please register online if you wish to utilise this service.
